Direct Affect was established in 2005 as the result of a need from the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. From the beginning, our employees gave of their time and resources to help those in need.
Since its conception, employees at APS continue to participate each year in many local outreach programs and charity events. Operation Lakeshore was an initiative to build The Cottages of Lakeshore, a $2.3 million project to construct 10 cottage-style houses on the campus of the Lakeshore Foundation in Homewood, Alabama enabling wounded soldiers and their families a long term rehabilitation option. APS's donated plumbing fixtures and material for the cottages. Direct Affect has allowed the company’s culture of giving to take on a life of its own. The events have included Project HOPE–an orphanage in Honduras, Habitat for Humanity, walking for Juvenile Diabetes Research, sending Care Packages for US troops overseas, contributing to the Crippled Children’s Foundation, United Way, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and PADS (Parent Advocates Down Syndrome).
American Pipe employees also invest their time and resources contributing to other local events that help those close to home including community blood drives, rescue missions, youth and children’s homes.
